Heritage Studies have over the past twenty years developed into a meeting point for many disciplines with varied scopes. Thus, it is under the scrutiny of cross-disciplinary approaches aiming at understanding how the past is acknowledged and used in today’s society. In this workshop we will examining three aspects of heritage methods derived from various approaches to

1) How heritage can partake in designing public places;

2) The challenges and opportunities of an applied approach to the use of heritage methods; and

3) What it means to be a heritage expert and consultant in designing public places.

By discussing a variety of cause studies, the participants will gain knowledge on methods suitable in various heritage projects, and how to approach the choice on heritage methods in preservation and planning situations. The case studies will provide knowledge on how you as a professional advisor in the heritage field by using the best methods can contribute to the planning of public spaces and be a facilitator of the public critical debate on the uses of heritage.
